So, just what is going on over at the football program for Florida State? On Friday, the team dismissed on of their fastest players, Kenny O’Neal. He was a wide receiver and return specialist. According to Coach Bobby Bowden, Kenny O’Neal was released for “conduct detrimental to the team.” This might not seem like much, but this is not the only incident.

It never fails. Every year we hear about college football players getting in trouble with the law. This time it’s Thomas Clayton. He’s the leading rusher for Kansas State. On Friday, he was convicted of a misdemeanor batter conviction. Last September he struck a parking services employee with his car and now he must pay for this incident. He has been suspended by Kansas State for one game, because of the conviction.

Colt McCoy is a quarterback hopeful at Texas. This fall he hoped to land the coveted starting job for the 2005 National Champions. Recently, he got a chance to show off his skills in another way. Neighbor, Ken Herrington, had a seizure on his backyard dock. McCoy, reacting quickly, jumped in the lake and swam as fast as he could for 300 yards.

One thing is for sure, a great running back can sure help a program fly. Teams that feature a great quarterback and great running back usually flourish, because defenses have to play the run and pass honestly. Today, we are going to take a look at a handful of running backs that you should keep an eye on.

It’s just around the corner—NCAA football that is. Sure, June just started, but in just under three short months, the NCAA will be going at it once again and the big USC vs. Texas game will no longer be the freshest example of pure college football in our minds. Most teams are starting the money games on September 2nd, so it’s only appropriate that we get started with the outlook on next season.

Tennessee quarterback, Jim Bob Cooter, was suspended indefinitely Monday. Campus police arrested Jim Bob Cooter on a drunken-driving charge. While Cooter was technically suspended for an undisclosed period of time, it’s unlikely that good ol’ Jim Bob will see any action in a Tennessee uniform—perhaps in Jail he will. He will apparently be given the opportunity to return in the future, but it’s his last year of eligibility and he’s not an asset to the team so perhaps the writing is on the wall.

USC Quarterback, Mark Sanchez, was cleared of sexual assault yesterday when Los Angeles County Prosecutors decided not to charge him. LA District Attorney, Richard Tacklander, said there was “a lack of sufficient evidence beyond a reasonable doubt.” The Sanchez story is just one of many that has plagued the USC program since their untimely defeat earlier this year.
