When ULL took the field against #8 LSU they knew their chances of winning were slim to none. However, they probably expected to do a little scoring while they were in town. Unfortunately for them, LSU had other ideas. ULL was held to a lone field goal, which occurred in the 2nd quarter. Meanwhile, LSU was scoring at will—14 in the 1st, 14 in the 2nd, 7 in the 3rd, and 10 in the 4th. The LSU Tigers dominated the ULL Ragin’ Cajuns 45-3.

It wasn’t a perfect game for LSU. They had a couple lost fumbles—something a better opponent would have taken advantage of. They put up 469 yards of total offense against ULL. The Ragin’ Cajuns could only muster up 176 yards of total offense in response. They had a measly 63 yards passing. LSU maintained a pass heavy attack. 299 of their 469 total yards were through the air.

LSU quarterback JaMarcus Russell was 13 of 17 for 253 yards and three touchdowns. He’s a pocket passer. Russell didn’t register any rushing yards (positive or negative). The passes were spread around the receiving unit. Dwayne Bowe—4 catches for 88 yards and a TD—and Craig Davis—4 catches for 82 yards—received most of the work.

ULL quarterback Jerry Babb had a game to forget. He was 7 of 17 for 63 yards including 2 interceptions. His average completion was for only 3.7 yards. Josh Harrison actually had -1 yard receiving, which was his longest completion of the day. Close to 100,000 people were in attendance to watch this laugher.
