The new AP college football top 25 poll is out and there’s definitely some jumbling going on. As usual, there are a couple teams a little higher or lower than they should be. The number one team in the country remains Ohio State. They received all but two of the first place votes this week. West Virginia received two first place votes.

Florida takes a jump from #5 to #2 this week after their impressive 23-10 victory against LSU. USC keeps their lock on the #3 spot despite struggling against Washington. Michigan gains two spots to #4. They destroyed Michigan State 31-13. Rounding out the top 5 is West Virginia. Despite receiving their two first place votes, they actually dropped from 4th to 5th this week. Their 42-14 win over Mississippi State wasn’t that impressive to voters.

Texas beat Oklahoma 28-10 and gained a little more respect. They moved into #6. Up on spot to #7 was Louisville who beat Middle Tennessee 44-17. Tennessee jumped from 13 to 8 this week behind their convincing 51-33 win at Georgia. Notre Dame gained 3 spots to #9 by beating Stanford 31-10. Rounding out the top 10 is California. They destroyed Oregon 45-24.

17. Arkansas – Was 34th last week. They beat auburn 27-10.

25. Wisconsin – Was 30th last week. They smoked Northwestern 41-9.

So, is there any room to be disgruntled? I think so. Let’s take a look at the top 10. Can you explain why USC is still #3? I think it’s mainly because they get a little too much respect and they were penciled in the slot already. Thus, if they don’t lose, they will keep the slot.

My #3 team would have to be Michigan. The Michigan vs. Ohio State game this season is going to be monumental. It’s big each year, but these two teams are the best of show in my opinion. We are talking about the winner most likely becoming the national champs. I think USC is more like #5 than #3. Other than that, the top 10 looks pretty good.
