Here we are in week two and there are already some very important games to watch. Who says college football isn’t exciting from the first kickoff of the season? In the recent AP Top 25 poll, Texas has been moved up to #2 due to their huge win over North Texas and it’s just in time. On Saturday, #1 Ohio State is traveling to #2 Texas and looking to avenge their loss last season.

Many attribute Texas’ win over Ohio State as the catalyst that propelled them to the national championship. Could this year be Ohio State’s turn? Texas has a slight advantage since the game is on their field, but Ohio State could give Texas quarterback Colt McCoy all he can handle. This is my big game of the weekend. If I could only watch one game, this would be it.

Another game I will be watching with interested eyes is #19 Penn State at #4 Notre Dame. I really want to believe that this is the year Notre Dame turns the corner, but I need something to believe in. Last week’s lackluster performance against Georgia Tech didn’t do it for me. If they can beat Penn State, it will be a major boost to their image.

Even though it was Akron, Penn State looked pretty good. Both of these teams have something to prove this week. It will hopefully transpire into a game worthy of the attention.

Finally, I’m going to watch #21 Nebraska travel all the way out west to #3 USC. Before last week the media was all over USC and how they won’t be that great. USC goes out and whips up Arkansas 50-14 and everyone flip-flops. Nebraska will be a much better challenge for USC than Arkansas was last week.

If USC can beat Nebraska handily, we might have a potential national championship contender on our hands. Many are already predicting USC to win in a landslide.
