#14 Michigan rolled right along in their game against Vanderbilt. Each quarter Michigan added a score and Vanderbilt was unable to keep up. The game was in13-7 in Michigan’s favor at the half. It was still an open contest. However, in the 3rd, Michigan distanced themselves from the Commodores by posting another TD and shutting down the Vanderbilt offense. It was 20-7 going into the fourth and the Commodores were finished. The Wolverines added a TD for good measure and won the game 27-7.

Wolverine QB, Chad Henne, went 10 for 22 for 135 yards and 2 TDs. He didn’t throw a pick. He also had 8 rushes for 20 yards. The Wolverine rushing attack was anchored by running back Mike Hart. He touched the ball 31 times for 146 yards. His average attempt was 4.7 yards. Hart’s longest run was 18 yards. Kevin Grady carried 5 times for 30 yards and scored the lone rushing TD. The lone TD for Vanderbilt came off a trick play when receiver Earl Bennett took a backwards pass from Chris Nickson and tossed it to a wide open Marlon White for the score.

Michigan receiver Steve Breaston caught 4 passes for 68 yards. His longest went for 29. On the other side of the ball Earl Bennett caught 6 passes for 58 yards. His longest was for 15 yards and he threw the Vanderbilt’s only TD.

Michigan needs a little improvement in the punt return game. Steve Breaston fielded 3 punts and returned them for a grand total of 7 yards (net). Vanderbilt didn’t fare any better in this department. However, Bennett only got to field one punt. Michigan could move up a spot in the next ranking release.
