Yesterday was bittersweet for Brady Quinn. I heard many pre-draft interviews with him and Quinn thought he was going to be a top 1-3 selection. I never thought so, but you have to give the guy credit for confidence.
It was painful watching team after team pass up on Quinn and then seeing the depression set in. When Miami passed on Quinn with the 9th overall pick, I was a little shocked. It’s not like they have a solidified QB situation in Miami.
But, in the end, all things were made right when the Cleveland Browns, Quinn’s childhood team, traded up and selected Brady Quinn 22nd overall.
If you didn’t watch the NFL draft, you missed out on some great moments. By all accounts, Packer fans weren’t pleased with Justin Harrell (DT from Tennessee). Those fans sure got vicious in a hurry.
Will Brady Quinn pan out as a solid selection? Time will tell. Cleveland paid a lot for their selections this draft.
While I’ve never been a Quinn (or Notre Dame) fan, I must admit that I practically got teary-eyed when the news came in that the Dallas Cowboys traded the 22nd overall selection to the Cleveland Browns—and the crowd went nuts.
It felt like when the Cleveland Cavaliers (NBA) won the lottery and selected hometown boy LeBron James, who just happened to be immensely talented.
Perhaps there’s a little part of all true NFL fans that’s cheering on the Browns—just a little.
