Patriots Get Moss and Get Super Bowl XLII Odds Reduced

Let me just go on record right now and say that the New England Patriots won’t win Super Bowl XLII. Five seconds after the trade for Randy Moss was announced, many NFL analysts crowned the Patriots as Super Bowl champs.

The line for the Patriots winning Super Bowl XLII was at 9-1 before the trade. Seconds after the trade the line dropped almost in half to 5-1.

Will Randy Moss make this much of an impact? Nope.

Look at 2006. Was the problem with the New England Patriots their offense? Not really. It was their defense’s inability to shut teams down—especially at critical moments.

They lost to the Colts 38-34 in the playoffs. Having Randy Moss or any other receiver isn’t going to help much. The Colts could have scored more too. Their defense needs to step up it drastically.

Moss is older now and he appears to be easier to shut down. Yes, I expect he’ll help some—and hurt some. But, the Patriots definitely don’t deserve to be crowned the champs already.

So, I’m on record as saying they won’t win Super Bowl XLII. Save your money for another bet.
